A Camera and A Car: ok, cool. But what we’re looking for is the heart that powers the innovation; the human in the machine. Mission objective: film the best human interest story on a Nikon mirrorless camera, featuring MG Motor.

THEME: Humans Ex Machina
Necessity is the mother of invention, just as imagination
gives rise to innovation. For your final entry, identify one human who has
blazed trails, broken out of the mold, and carved new pathways to success for
others to follow. Tell their story.
QUALIFYING ROUND MECHANICS:
- This contest is open to all videographers and filmmakers of any skill level or brand preference who are legally residing in the UAE, aged 21 or above, holding a valid driver’s license.
- To qualify, fill-out the application form and include a link to your show reel or a sample of your best work online. The video should have a maximum duration of 5 minutes. IMPORTANT NOTE: the link to your show reel or sample of your best work should lead to your video that is posted on a publicly viewable platform such as YouTube, Vimeo or IGTV. Links to cloud storage such as Dropbox or Google Drive will NOT be accepted. Links to file sharing services such as WeTransfer will NOT be accepted.
- The qualifying round will run from September 6, 2022 to September 30, 2022
- Out of the applications, we will pick 10 finalists who will move on to the Final Round, based on the following criteria: Technical Merits (50%), Artistic Merits (50%).
FINAL ROUND MECHANICS:
- The 10 finalists will each be loaned an MG automobile and a Nikon Z 6II with a NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/4 S for precisely 48 hours, with which they will create footage for their final entry.
- For their final entries, each finalist must identify and collaborate with one human subject. The genre of the final entry will be “Human Interest,” hence the screenplay must be based on the human subject’s story.
- As a creative mandate, a minimum of 15 seconds of the 60-second video has to be footage of the MG automobile in some capacity, 3 seconds of which has to show MG branding.
- Finalists will bear the responsibility of obtaining all pertinent permits and talent releases for their shooting their footage, and may be asked to provide these documents
- To film their final entries, the finalists will only be allowed to use the Nikon Z 6II and the NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/4 S – use of any other camera or lens will not be permitted. However, the finalists will be allowed to use any accessories e.g. tripod, filters, crane, gimbal etc.
- Finalists will be given another 4 days to edit their footage
- Criteria for Judging the Final Entries: Technical Merits (33%), Artistic Merits (33%), Adherence to Theme (33%)
TIMELINES:
- September 6 to September 30 – Qualifying Round
- October 7 – Announcement of Top 10
- October 14, 8PM – Orientation, loaning of MG automobile and Nikon Z camera, shooting period
- October 14 to October 16 – Shooting period
- October 16, 9PM – Finalists return the MG automobile and Nikon Z camera
- October 20 – Submission deadline of final entries
- October 26 – Awarding Ceremony
TERMS & CONDITIONS:
- This Contest is organized and promoted by Nikon ME FZE, with address at Jebel Ali Free Zone, Dubai, UAE, in partnership with Inter Emirates Motors – Sole Proprietorship LLC. (IEM), with address at P.O. Box 915, Abu Dhabi, UAE, a subsidiary of Ali and Sons Holding LLC., the official dealer for MG Motor in the UAE. All participants to this Contest shall be subject to these Terms and Conditions.
- Nikon ME FZE and IEM/MG Motor reserve in perpetuity the right to use, publish, reproduce,
- Contestants shall be liable for: (i) any infringement of Nikon ME FZE and IEM’s patents, trade secrets, copyrights, trademarks, service marks, trade names or similar prorietary rights; or (ii) any content that infringes any laws or is defamatory or libelous;or (iii) any content that constitutes or encourages criminal behaviour that leads to civil liability or that otherwise violates any laws.
- The prizes for this Contest are non-transferrable and cannot be converted to cash.
- The winner of the MG GT 2023 will receive the vehicle only. The vehicle is not subject to exchange or use to trade for another vehicle of any kind. All other vehicle related expenses, which includes, but not limited to, vehicle insurance, registration, fuel, toll fees, maintenance, and repair expenses, etc., are to be borne by the winner.
- Nikon ME FZE and IEM/MG Motor reserve the right to terminate the Contest at any time without prior notice.
- Nikon ME FZE and IEM/MG Motor and their partners will not be responsible nor liable for any injury, damage, loss, accident, or illness incurred by the Contestants as a result of participating in the Contest.
- Nikon ME FZE and IEM/MG Motor reserve the right to change, amend, delete or add to these Contest Terms and Conditions without prior notice at any time. Contestants agree to be bound to any such changes.
- Nikon ME FZE, IEM and the Contestants are independent of each other and nothing, by way of this Contest, will give rise to a partnership, joint venture, or other relationship between them. Neither of them is authorised to make commitments on behalf of the other or otherwise bind the other without the prior written consent of such party.
- Nikon ME FZE and IEM/MG Motor’s decision shall be final and binding. No correspondence shall be entertained.

DATA PRIVACY:
- Participants will be required to submit their personal details such as name, phone number, e-mail and must agree to the Terms and Conditions.
- Nikon ME FZE and IEM/MG Motor will be collecting personal information of the Participants in accordance with their respective Privacy Policies.
- Nikon ME FZE and IEM/MG Motor will collect personal information in order to conduct the Activation and may, for this purpose, disclose such information to third parties, including but not limited to, Nikon’s and IEM/MG Motor’s authorized agents and as required, to regulatory authorities.
- By participating in the Contest, the Participant hereby consents to the use of their personal information in the manner as set out in these Terms and Conditions and waives their rights to initiate any claim against Nikon ME FZE or IEM/MG Motor for privacy invasion, improper disclosure of personal information or any other related claims.
